Will Someone Stand Up for Dolores Huerta?

In his fight against then Senator Barack Obama during the campaign, Kevin James found ways to tilt his wannabe-Limbaugh routine back towards immigration. This time however, he decided to mock a phrase that had been made famous by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. He thought it would be better to score political points and attack the immigrant community and use President Obama as a vehicle to do so.

Their rally cry for the United Farm Workers was, “Si se puede.” James took its use in an Obama speech and twisted it for his own purpose. Take a listen here, transcript is below:

Barack Obama, with the message of “Si se puede” tonight in Denver, you imagine the momentum that he would have with an open borders agenda that Michelle Obama’s speech to some of these caucuses in Denver just yesterday indicating what a priority an open borders agenda would be if they are elected? Do you not see, Thomas, that by refusing to vote for John McCain you are advancing an unintended consequence, but you are advancing. Because it’s going to be either Obama or McCain. And by not supporting McCain, you are advancing that radical agenda with everything else that comes along with it. At least with the McCain presidency, we have a president that is talking enforcement.

"Si se puede" was more than just a rally cry for the United Farm Workers. This was a saying that Dolores Huerta used to will the farmworkers into getting fair wages and a union contract. Here is a great story that you should read if you are not familiar with the heroic efforts of Dolores Huerta.

Dolores Huerta regularly uses that phrase to unite labor into sticking together and believing in themselves. Take a look at how she does it:

Why should we let someone who has no respect for how far immigrants and workers rights have come onto the Public Works Board?

Just so you're all aware, I have barely tipped the iceberg of Kevin James's online library. Just imagine if I'm only barely a tenth of the way through how much more we can find out about Kevin James.
